IPL Skin Rejuvenation Program
The IPL Skin Rejuvenation Program is a brilliant way to receive instant results with little to no downtime. We recommend booking the program during winter and the cooler months. It’s imperative to stay out of direct sunlight for the duration of the program. For best results, book the 4 consecutive IPL skin rejuvenation facials 2 – 4 weeks apart.
So what is IPL? IPL stands for Intense Pulse Light. It’s a medical treatment that’s been around for a long time. Using a computer-controlled machine, we create each treatment for your skin type and concerns. IPL is a form of heat and light therapy, with the light energy being delivered to the skin over very quick intense pulses.
How does it work? The skin absorbs this light and converts it into heat, which then brings new life to cellular tissues such as collagen and elastin. When treating rosacea or pigmentation the light attracts to the unwanted pigment in the skin and shatters it, hence the ‘milo’ impact that can often be seen post treatment. The ‘milo-ing’, is what we say when the pigmentation is slightly raised out of the skin; as though someone has sprinkled milo onto the skin.
Caring for your skin post IPL treatment? When the pigmentation is gently raised out of the skin, it’s imperative to keep the skin well hydrated. The pigmentation needs to stay soft for it to slowing release from the skin in it’s own time. As opposed to drying out and forming a crust which could lead to scarring or skin trauma. For extra hydration, you could apply a cooling gel or cream mask to the skin 2 or 3 times per week post treatment.
Further, while on walks, outside, or exposed to the sun in general, always wear sun protection and wear a hat, or cover the treated areas. Most guests enjoy scheduling an IPL skin rejuvenation program once or twice a year for maximum maintenance.
