Dermaplaning Deluxe
Dermaplaning + Non Toxic Peel + Collagen Mask $219, allow 60 minutes
Living in Brisbane, we sometimes assume our skin can cope in this heat without a deep exfoliation. After all, basking in the warm, humid temperature of the Sunshine State can make us complacent with our skincare. But, when the temperatures rise and our body starts to sweat, we get a brutal reminder that our glowing, hydrated skin is still susceptible to the woes of summer. Namely more oil, more pimples and more congestion. To help combat these summer skin problems, The Facial Hub has introduced dermaplaning.
Also known as, epiblading or epidermal leveling. Dermaplaning is a form of exfoliation similar in theory to microdermabrasion but without the use of suction or abrasive crystals. A surgical grade, sterile blade is stroked along the skin at an angle to gently “shave off” dead skin cells from the epidermis.
This treatment temporarily removes the ‘peach-fuzz’ or vellus hairs of the face, leaving a very smooth surface. As with any type of exfoliation, the removal of dead skin cells allows skincare products to work more effectively. And your makeup sits smooth because the ‘peach-fuzz’ is removed, resulting in a brighter complexion. Who doesn’t want a smooth, bright and radiant complexion?!
Dermaplaning is suitable in the treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage pigmentation, and congested pores. It also works beautifully when paired with relaxing facials, non toxic peels and LED light therapy.
I can hear your thoughts already… what happens when the hairs grown back?
You won’t grow a beard after having dermaplaning. Your hair will grow back, but it will look and feel like it did before you had the treatment. The surgical blade used. just shaves the ends from the fine vellus hairs. Nothing happens to the follicles themselves, so the growth of the hair doesn’t change.
So, how many treatments do I need?
A course of 6 treatments performed at 2 to 6 week intervals. The first 3 treatments, 2 to 3 weeks apart, and subsequent treatments 4 to 6 weeks apart.

What to expect…
Prior to the treatment a prescribed home care regime is tailored to your skin type. It’s important to cease use of any prescription vitamin A products 48 hours prior to the treatment. And always use a sunscreen at least SPF 30. We love and recommend, Simple As That Natural Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30, this is available to purchase at the salon.
During the treatment, following a deep cleanse, the skin is prepared for the dermaplaning. Using a straight edge surgical blade (scalpel), at a 45 degree angle the skin is gently exfoliated, one facial zone at a time. The accumulated dead skin cells and ‘peach-fuzz’ is removed. It’s a comfortable and relaxing treatment that really helps to smooth and brighten your complexion.
After the treatment, sometimes with the dermaplaning treatment, minor cuts, nicks or abrasions may appear on the skin. This normally goes away within 24-48 hours.
What are the benefits of Dermaplaning?
The top benefits of dermaplaning are a deep exfoliation, increased effectiveness of skincare, the ingredients are better absorbed into the skin. When new to advanced treatments, dermaplaning is a good starting point. Dermaplaning is fantastic in the treatment of scarring from acne, and sun damage pigmentation. Also, no preparation is required, there’s no pain and no chemicals, results can be seen and felt instantly.
