What are henna brows?
If you’re the type of girl or guy who’s never stepped inside a beauty salon, you may be wondering what henna brows are.
Henna brows are a natural way to colour your eyebrows without any nasty chemicals. At The Facial Hub, we only use clean beauty products and the henna brow products used in our salon are vegan—plant-based with no toxic ingredients. Better for you, and much better for your skin.
After your eyebrow appointment, you can expect that your brows will have more definition, volume and will be fluffier with a matte appearance.
Should I try henna brows?
If you often neglect your eyebrows, you may be surprised at what a difference a brow tint can make to your eyes, in fact, it can change your overall appearance. If you have thin, sparse eyebrows or you’re an over-plucker, henna tinting can be a game-changer. Henna brows will provide added volume, define your arches and highlight those baby hairs you never knew existed.
Stop spending money on eyebrow pencils, powders, brushes, and gels, you can throw them away. With henna brows, you wake up ready to go. It makes you appear as you’ve gone to a lot of effort and saves you around 10-15 minutes. All you need to do is your normal morning skincare routine, apply a tinted moisturiser and some lippy and you’ll have a work-ready to take you from 9 to 5. Plus, think of all that extra space in your cosmetic bag.
Those with faded eyebrow tattoos may find that henna is a great alternative to refresh your look. It also provides amazing coverage on grey brows.

What’s the difference between a brow tint and henna brows?
If you take care of your brows, your henna will typically outlast most brow tints. Not to mention because it’s a natural plant-based product, there are no nasty chemicals being applied to your face—a great option if you have sensitive skin or are allergic to dyes.
While henna is typically suitable for those of you with sensitive skin, if you’ve never had henna applied before you may want to try a patch test. Pop in to the salon and we can apply a small spot of henna to your skin and leave it for 15-20 minutes.
If you don’t experience a reaction after two days, you can have complete peace of mind when you book your henna brows appointment.
With a brow tint your eyebrows will take on a glossier appearance, whereas henna is much more natural. It has a matte look that highlights individual hairs for a fluffier, fuller look.
How long do henna brows take?
The eyebrow session will take around 30 minutes. Allow 45 minutes to allow yourself to get to our Brisbane beauty salon without feeling rushed.
What is the process for henna brows?
Before we can begin the process of applying the henna, the first stage is to cleanse any dirt and oils from your skin so your brow area is clean and ready for the henna application.
After measuring and shaping your brows (and here’s where you can certainly have your say of what you like and don’t like), we’ll apply a natural barrier that ensures the lines of the henna are exact.
Our team at The Facial Hub has all undergone training, so the henna is applied taking our time, and paying close attention to every little detail. The henna is left for 10-20 minutes to process, much like when you get your hair coloured.
We’ll finish shaping your eyebrows once the henna is removed and then you’re ready for that just stepped out of the salon look.
Is it painful?
Henna is one of the most natural ways to shape and define your eyebrows without any pain.
What is the difference between henna and microblading?
Henna is only temporary where microblading uses tattoo technique using tiny blades which can last up to 3 years. And like any tattoo, there is a degree of discomfort.
How to care for your brows?
Your eyebrows do require a little bit of ongoing maintenance to make them last longer. During the first 48 hours after your treatment, it’s important to avoid contact with water—no swimming, try to avoid washing your hair, and wear a shower cap over your brows to avoid getting them wet.
After the 48-hour period is over, you can wash your face but be sure to avoid over-washing and always opt for oil-free makeup and facial cleansers.
How long does henna last?
Henna stains the skin behind your eyebrows for up to 14 days and dye your eyebrow hair for up to six weeks. However, your lifestyle reduces the longevity of your brows. For example; during summer if you spend lots of time at the beach surfing or in the water, or sweating excessively, your eyebrows may not last as long.
Our recommendations
Never try to undertake applying henna to your eyebrows yourself. This is a treatment that should be performed at our Brisbane salon. Our technicians have trained to be precise and have a steady hand and can apply the right amount of henna so that your eyebrows are the right tone to suit your complexion.
Many people turn to DIY home kits to do their brows in the comfort of their own bathroom. It’s important to realise that henna is very unforgiving and if you get the wrong shape or make a mistake, it’s not easily removed.
Now that you’ve explored our beginners’ guide to henna brows in Brisbane, you can make an educated decision whether temporary henna brows are right for you. We recommend to pair this treatment with a lash lift for the ultimate eye makeover. Gift vouchers are available.
