The Facial Hub – Brene Brown
The Facial Hub – Brene Brown, this topic has us digging deep into our emotions. Who’s into TED Talks? We love them at The Facial Hub and we can’t get enough of Dr. Brene Brown. A research professor at the University of Houston in the United States, Dr. Brene studies human connection.
So, how does this have any connection to our beauty blog? As a beauty therapist, at times, we really are ‘therapists’. Time and time again we witness our guests arrive at the salon exhausted, overwhelmed and burnt out. Leaving a sense of lost connection to themselves and the big picture.
Hey, even us beauty therapist, have found ourselves emotionally burnt at some point in our lives.
Mostly, this is way beauty therapists are so passionate about their careers. It’s that connection between client and therapist. It could be as simple as being listened too, or not having to talk at all for a few minutes, or the healing touch of warm hands from a gorgeous facial, or a serious head thrown back laugh out loud about nothing.
“Empathy is the antidote to shame. The two most powerful words when we’re in struggle: me too.”
If you have a few minutes to spare later today, we highly recommend watching Dr. Brene’s TED Talk. This talk picks up in the second half and is all-out beautiful by the end. It will make you want to dare greatly. (8.7 million views)
Listening to Shame by Brene Brown
What we love most about Dr. Brene Brown’s TED Talk is how she believes human connection is our way back to ourselves. And we couldn’t agree more, (now, I say this next line with the risk of sounding ‘old’), especially in this digital age.
Busy. Busy, Busy, We get it. We’re operating at such a fast pace in 2018. And there’s an impact from all this busyness, our cortisol levels increased which stimulates stress in the body, stress effects our sleep, then our energy levels, and ultimately the way we look.
For a zozsh up that includes all your essential beauty favs, we’ve packaged a golden hour for you to take time just for you.
Look and feel your best by allowing yourself the time for a facial. There are endless benefits from facials starting with the obvious, a little midday kip, hello, yes pls! …and the power of touch.
The power of touch has shown to lower blood pressure, heart rate and cortisol levels, stimulate the memory centre of the brain, and drive the release of a host of hormones that link to positive and uplifting emotions, as found by Tiffany Filed, the head of the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine.
